Loose Leaf Boba Company Opens at
The Shops at Yale in Downtown New Haven
NEW HAVEN, CT – Yale University Properties welcomes Loose Leaf Boba Company, located at 46 High Street, to The Shops at Yale in the Chapel Street Historic District of downtown New Haven.
Owner Lisa Satavu of North Haven, CT is bringing an entirely new boba tea and drink concept to New Haven, offering unique, hot & cold beverages made with all-natural and organic ingredients like real fruit, real milk, freshly pressed tea, and organic matcha. All of Loose Leaf Boba Company’s drinks are made to order, so they are tailored to each customer’s taste preferences.
“We want to change the game in how people view boba and tea,” said Lisa, who opened the new location with her brother William Bok. “Each drink is inspired by different cultures and boba tea shops all around the world, using only the finest ingredients.”
Boba refers to the chewy tapioca pearls that make boba, or bubble, tea distinguishable from other beverages. Notable flavors from Loose Leaf’s menu include Strawberry Matcha Latte, Hong Kong Milk Tea, Banana Foster, Pandan Pina Collision, Matchacado, and Chrysanthemum Teas, as well as 50/50 drinks which are half Vietnamese coffee and half milk tea.
Lisa and William, who are no strangers to the New Haven culinary scene having been a part of the restaurant group that helped put together Pokémoto Hawaiian Poké, Saladcraft, and FroyoWorld, were looking to bring a California-inspired boba tea concept to Connecticut and believed New Haven would be the perfect fit.
“Downtown New Haven is a cultural hub for innovative and creative ideas, and I couldn’t imagine a better location to open Loose Leaf,” said Lisa. “We pride ourselves on quality and service, and live by one motto: Always Keepin’ It Real!”
The owners “keep it real” — and unique — by not using artificial non-dairy creamer powder, fructose syrup or artificial non-vegan food coloring, and their milk is sourced locally from Arethusa Farm in Litchfield, CT. Loose Leaf also offers vegan milk options from Califia Farms Plant Milks and Oatly Original Oatmilk.
The restaurant has created a total of 10 full and part time jobs in New Haven. A soft opening was held on March 30 where the owners were greeted by a long line of customers who were eager to try what Loose Leaf had to offer.
Loose Leaf Boba Company is located at 46 High Street in New Haven, and is open Sunday-Thursday, 11:00am-10:00pm and Friday & Saturday, 11:00am-11:00pm.
