NEW HAVEN — A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Tuesday at 1090 Chapel St. “to welcome Neville Wisdom Fashions to The Shops at Yale in the Chapel Street Historic District,” according to a release by Yale University Properties.
Neville Wisdom, owner of the store and a city resident, was raised in Windsor Castle, an area of Saint Mary, Jamaica, and “taught himself the basics of making practical clothing before being mentored by a local designer who introduced him to women’s fashions,” the release said.
After starting his business here in 2007, his reputation grew, as did his client base. In 2014, Wisdom designed the dress for Mayor Toni N. Harp’s inaugural gala. He has been part of the On9 events and the Neville Wisdom fashion show on Orange Street.
