Have you ever been to New Haven, CT? For all our East Coast readers, New Haven offers a variety of family friendly activities! It’s affordable and has lots of learning activities and adventures for kids who appreciate art, music, and culture. So we’re bringing you just a few of the must see attractions in this great city!
Peabody Museum. The Peabody Museum houses 4 billion years of the Earth’s history including the third largest paleontology collection in the U.S. See huge dinosaur fossils and exhibits on primates, birds, gems, minerals, Earth and space. This a great place for the whole family! Adults are $9 and children are just $5.
Yale Art Gallery. This fine-arts museum presents works of art from ancient times to the present day, with a variety of changing exhibitions. The gallery has a wonderful education department that includes a slew of hands-on activities for kids, and there is no admission fee. This is a definite must see when you’re in town!
Yale Campus Tour The Yale Visitor Center now offers a Kid’s Architectural Treasure Hunt brochure for children ages 6-11 that encourages the children to hunt for architectural details and designs while on the tour. Group tours for the treasure hunt can be arranged by calling (203) 432-230.
Yale Museum Of British Art. Yale Center for British Art houses the largest collection of British art outside the UK in a landmark building by Louis Kahn, and includes paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, and rare books. There are a variety of exhibitions, talks, tours, concerts, and family programs which occur on a regular basis, and the museum offers visitors free admission.
Knights Of Colombus. Established in 1982, the Knights of Columbus Museum features world-class exhibitions of artwork and history, particularly those representing the heritage of Catholicism. Renowned for its annual Christmas exhibitions, the Knights of Columbus Museum provides a spacious, contemporary and family-friendly facility. It is fully accessible, open year-round, and offers free admission and onsite parking.
Eli Whitney Museum. This museum is an experimental learning workshop for students, teachers, and families. They are all about learning and building and have over a thousand things you can build there!
The Mochi Store. Some say mochi is the new macaroon, so while in New Haven, be sure to check out this one-of-a-kind ice cream shop selling only mochi ice cream. As you might already know, its a combination of gourmet ice cream wrapped in a sweetened rice confection, creating a delicious bite-sized treat. This unique sweet-shop offers countless flavors, from basic vanilla to tropical passion fruit and even chocolate peanut butter, so there is a flavor for every customer. You The kids are going to love this! 
Pizza. New Haven is home to the first slice of American pizza so be sure to grab a slice while you’re in town! Frank Pepe’s Pizzeria Napoletana is one of the oldest and best known pizzerias in the United States, so try to grab a slice of their goodness while you’re visiting!
Theater. Take in a show or a take a tour! There’s Shubert, Long Warf, and Yale theaters!
